One Dream: One Goal

Evergreen Country Day School has a rich history in the Evergreen community. Founded in 1971 as the Children’s Learning Center and later renamed Evergreen Mountain School, the school rented several locations while hoping to one day purchase property of its own. In 2003 the school’s name changed to Evergreen Country Day School (ECDS) and the Board of Trustees launched plans to aggressively seek property and move to a permanent location.

In December 2004, ECDS purchased 7.5 acres of land in the Tepees Development in El Rancho. An adjacent two acres and a house were purchased in April 2005, and in August of that year the new campus was completed with the acquisition of an early childhood facility. The early childhood, elementary and middle school facilities now reside on a spectacular 11-acre mountain campus.

Four modular buildings were erected for the 2005 and 2006 school years, and plans were drawn to meet the needs of the future. Four generous families stepped forward with financial commitments to make the property purchase and move a reality. The school was able to complete this phase of its plan without taking on any debt. With this firm foundation now in place, the school is perfectly positioned for an exciting future as one of the area’s premiere independent schools.

Having accomplished Phase 1 of the plan with the purchase of our 11-acre site and installation of the modular buildings, which allow us to continue classes during this interim period, we are now ready and eager to proceed with the implementation of our vision.

Phase 2 of this vision includes a Campus Center, a facility that will become the core of the campus and will include a library and technology center, a kitchen with adjacent cafetorium (a cafeteria that can double as a performing arts auditorium), administrative offices, and assorted meeting spaces. Connected to the south side of the Campus Center will be the elementary and middle school building, with classrooms for grades K-8, arts and music spaces, science labs and offices. Outdoor gathering spaces for students, an outdoor auditorium, playgrounds, soccer and baseball fields are also an integral part of the plan.

Phase 3 of the One Dream: One Goal Campaign calls for the addition of a gymnasium large enough to contain regulation-size volleyball and basketball courts, a climbing wall and weight room, bleacher seating for 480 spectators, two locker rooms and a concession stand. This space will also be adaptable for larger performing arts productions.

Phase 2 is planned for completion and move-in by the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year.

Phase 4, the final phase, calls for the construction of a high school building, which will feature ample classrooms, technology labs, arts studios, music and band rooms, a dance studio and administrative offices.
