Weekly AnnouncementsMay 22, 2008
Dear Parents,
The year is coming to an end but not without a host of end of the year celebrations and performances. Each class has an end of the year party planned. Early childhood’s last day is Friday, May 23. The students won’t finish the year quietly as a water playday is planned. Grades K-8 performed selections from High School Musical, Hairspray and Grease under the direction of Ms. Karen Tobey. The students did a wonderful job and the show was a real treat. Looking back on the year all of the children at Evergreen Country Day School accomplished a great deal and grew as students and individuals. Our community should be very proud of the accomplishments of our students and teachers.
Field day will be held for students in grades K-7 on Wednesday, May 28. It is an Olympic theme this year. Festivities will begin at 10:15 and will be followed by a cookout. If you would like to volunteer to help with Field day or the cookout, please contact the school. The more the merrier.
Box Tops - Congratulations to Mrs. D's PreK and Mrs Duke's Kindergarten classes for winning the Box Top contest! Also congratulations to the entire school as we collected 4000 box tops this year! Thanks to Ann Noone for organizing this fun fundraiser.
Continuation will be held on Thursday, May 29. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 am sharp. Parents are asked to bring their children to school by 9:30 am. The students will be dismissed immediately following the ceremony, which should last a little over an hour.
Summer camps will begin on Monday, June 9. There will be a total of seven weeks of summer camps. If you have not already done so, sign up your child for some summer sessions. There are diverse offerings for all ages and interests. Also, remember that these camps are open to the entire community.
Evergreen Country Day School plans on offering bus service for the 2008-2009 school year. The cost for this service will be approximately $1025 per year/per student for daily service. Families with multiple children taking advantage of the bus will receive an additional 15% discount. The bus is equipped with child safety seats. For families interested in service fewer than five days a week, there will be a pro-rated discount. If you have not already done so, please contact the school with your interest at info@ecdschool.org , subject line bus service. Formal agreements will be mailed in July.
In July a mailer, important information regarding the beginning of the school year will be sent to all families. A calendar for the 2008-2009 school year, along with all of the requisite beginning of the year forms will be included. In addition, the official calendar will be posted on the website by the second week of June. An important date to remember is Tuesday, September 2 will be the first day of school. Also, an open house and dedication of the new facility is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 28. We hope to see you all there at this exciting event for Evergreen Country Day School.
When we return in the fall the elementary and middle school students will be in their new building. Construction is moving along on schedule and the facility is looking great. Many of you have toured and witnessed first hand what this building will mean to the educational program at ECDS. There will be no limit to what our students and teachers will be able to accomplish. Work will not be limited to the new building. Several renovations are planned in early childhood. Most exciting for the program will be the addition of an early childhood library. There will be additional tile work and painting to be completed over the summer months as well.
Office hours will be maintained throughout the summer. Generally the school’s main office will be open from 9-3 pm. In addition to preparing for the upcoming school year, we will continue with admissions over the summer. A successful summer season is important to meeting our enrollment goals. Encourage a friend or neighbor to visit and see just what Evergreen Country Day School could mean for their child.
Thank you to all of our families for entrusting your children to Evergreen Country Day School. It is the collective work of our faculty, families and students that truly make Evergreen Country Day School a special place. I wish you a safe and restful summer and very much look forward to seeing all of you again in September.
Sincerely,
Ben Jackson Head of School
